Siberian Wanderer

Siberian Wanderer

Directed by Vadim Vitovsev

SIBERIAN WANDERER  is a feature documentary about the search for self.  Though the title translates from local dialect as "Wanderer," or  "beggar,” or ”vagabond,” the story is about inner freedom and self-exploration which turns an ordinary nomad into an extraordinary Siberian artist. This film follows Tarakai, an eternal traveler, on his real-life existential road-trip. All he has are his dreams and his paintings - the quintessential minimalist. He roams the world like a dervish or a monk going nowhere in particular. He has a never-ending quest to find more knowledge.  He moves slowly...as a true Wanderer...on foot. He sees the world as only he can.

As most of us immerse more deeply in a material and technical world, Tarakai lives a simple and humble life...part dervish, part artist, part philosopher. For the viewer, his life may seem a bit odd...uncomfortable. There’s a disconnect in our ways of existing. Perhaps he knows more than all of us. Siberian Wanderer encourages us to look deep within ourselves through the eyes of a stranger. It challenges us to shift paradigms, walk in Tarakai’s shoes, and follow his road.
